being an udeskole
Why learn behind a desk when you can learn outside? Why limit students to one building when we have a whole city to explore? At Arrowleaf we don't believe in fences - our city and our environment are our classrooms.
Udeskole is a broad term in Danish referring to learning outside of school in natural and built environments.
We all know it. We can all feel it. Our children are being lost to electronic screens and digital environments. Their connections to our community and to nature are undermined by everything from the latest gadget to overcrowded classrooms.
How We Do it
Arrowleafers learn to adapt, be resilient, embrace new things, and find joy in self discovery. They are in our community spaces (both natural and civic) daily. We go where the learning is. Our students are part of our community, not hidden away behind high fences.
